What's Cooking?

I must say that I'm in love with FALL! Here in New England the Changing of the leaves is a marvelous site to see! Leaf piles taller than me are always inviting my little ones to jump in and have some fun! The Fall is also the start of Holiday Cooking. The smell of Baked pies, Apples, Pumpkin and savory dishes cant be resisted!!

Chilly Fall nights call for snuggling by Candlelight. The glow of Candles can be relaxing and set amazing atmosphere in your home. As you decorate and prep for guests during the Holidays, stock up on your favorite Fall scents. The first impression your home makes starts at the front door. Let the Sweet scents of KayCandles keep your home smelling its best this Holiday Season.

No need to spend all day baking, just light up some of these Fall scents and have your place smelling like you did! everyone will ask "what's cooking?"

Kay recommends:

  • Use Tea light candles in hallways and small spaces. They are discreet and will keep your guests guessing where that wonderful scent is coming from.
  • Light up your scented candles an hour before guests arrive-this gives the room time to receive the full strength of your new scent.
  • Keep light scented Candles like 'Clean House' and 'My Joy' in bathrooms and guest rooms.
  • Use scents like 'Pumpkin Latte' and 'Peachy Peach Cobbler' in Dining room and Kitchen areas.
  • Buy batches of Votives and Tea lights and use as small Thank you gifts to New guests, and they also make great Hostess gifts when you are invited to special Holiday celebrations.

Make you wanna

OH the power of the senses!

We have FIVE senses and for good reason, two of them that relate to candles are Sight and Smell.

Our sense of sight will see COLORS and make you want to take action!.

Did you know that seeing certain COLORS will immediately trigger certain emotions? It's true,
what do you think of when you see the color RED or ORANGE? these colors excite and awaken and
Candles of this color can trigger the same response. Try placing vibrant colors like Red, Orange or Yellow in areas of your home where people gather for fun, eating or exercise!
Juicy Peaches

How about a soft Purple or White? these colors tend to help us relax and unwind. Place soft calm colors in areas of your home where you Pray, Read or Study. Decorating quiet spaces in your home with these colors will naturally help your body unwind from a long day or sit and reflect during a transition in your life.
Spa Scented Lavender

Our sense of SMELL will make you feel a certain way and quickly change your mood!

Ever come home from work and the first thing you smell when you open the door is Garbage??? Your mood can immediately shift from great to grouchy-right? Candle SCENTS can greatly affect your mood-for instance when you light up a 'vanilla' scented candle. The rich warm smell of Vanilla can immediately make you feel hungry or put you in the mood for baking!

Fruity scents like 'Pineapple, Apples or Citrus' can make you want to start a project, clean a room or redecorate! Our sense of SIGHT and SMELL are powerful and for good reason. So the next time you are looking for a mood change or looking to set a specific atmosphere in a room-choose your candle COLORS and SCENTS wisely. :)

So what's your favorite COLOR?
What's your favorite SCENT?

Does this article make you wanna share? Go right ahead!

Top 3 uses for Candles.

Friends! there are tons of ways to use Candles, but here are my top 3!
1. We all love great food, but let's face it-sometimes our favorite 'dishes' can leave an unpleasant smell in our homes.
Candles can work great to lift that unpleasant smell and give your home the great smell it needs. If you are inviting people over for a gathering, be sure to light a 'fresh clean' scented candle at least an hour before they arrive. This will give time for the full fragrance to permeate the room and eliminate the bad smell. If you are using candles for the sole purpose of eliminating an odor, don't use a 'food' scented candle because if it combines with the unpleasant smell that will just create an even worse smell. So reach for your 'clean fresh' scented candles when combating a bad smell in your home.

2. Candles can definitely work to set a mood or atmosphere! Having a romantic evening for two? dinner by candlelight is the way to go. Tea-lights and votives work well when coupled together in small groups. Place each group (3 or 4) strategically in different areas of the room to create a 'romance' centered atmosphere. Candles can help to create any atmosphere you need. Long stressful day? place candles all around your bathtub and unwind. Use a light, fresh scented candle like 'Lavender' or 'Serenity' to complete relax your senses and uplift your mood.

3. Candles make great Gifts!
For Birthdays, Holidays, Anniversaries, House warmings or Weddings--any special occasion is a perfect opportunity to give a great gift. Gifts show that you care and that you celebrate with those who are celebrating. Candles are the perfect gift for anyone on  your list, they come in many sizes, colors and scents so you are sure to find one that your recipient will love. Every time they relight the candle you gave them, they will think of you. Candles are a gift that keeps on giving!!
